ABOUT DVD-HYBRID DISCS

A DVD-VIDEO disc contains DVD-Video data only.
The AUDIO_TS directory is for DVD-Audio and is empty on a DVD-Video disc.
This is what DVD Studio Pro will “BUILD” on your Hard Drive

CREATING A DVD-HYBRID DISC
To create a DVD disc which can also deliver computer-readable material in the DVD-ROM zone of the disc, (especially useful for creating File-enabled discs using DVD@cess), follow these steps:
1 – First, author your DVD-Video project as usual
2 – Collect all the DVD-ROM material into one folder. (All material in this folder will end up at ROOT LEVEL)
3 – Set the DVD-ROM property in DVD Studio Pro (Located in the Disc Inspector, or the FORMAT dialog)
4 – BURN a DVD-R with DVD Studio Pro, or
5 – WRITE a DLT Master tape
BUILDING a DVD to your Hard Drive will NOT create the proper DVD-ROM structure!
Be careful of the following pitfalls –
• Be sure your filenames comply with ISO9660 standards (a.k.a. 8.3 file names – MYTEXT.DOC, for example) – These short file names will pass through DVD Mastering controls without flagging errors upon analysis.
• Be sure to include the DVD @cess INSTALLERS onto your DVD disc, or the recipient will not be able to utilize the DVD @cess function on their machines. The Installers are located in the RESOURCES folder of the DVD Studio Pro application bundle. DVDSP will install them automatically if you USE DVD @ cess in the project.
• Be aware that as of the writing of this documentation (June, 2006) it has been reported that there are difficulties in using DVD@cess on Windows-based machines of all types – Win 95,98,ME,2000, etc.
• Also be aware that when you create a DVD-Hybrid, you will need to remind your DVD viewers that the ROM material is NOT viewable from the DVD Video side... meaning, the ROM material will be available to a DVD-enabled Computer, but the set-top DVD player will ONLY display the DVD-Video content...
